The final four contestants on "The Voice" will soon hit the stage for the last performance round in the competition. On Monday night, Chris Mann, Tony Lucca, Jermaine Paul and Juliet Simms will have a solo shot at the microphone and one chance to wow the crowd alongside their star-coaches. But before the show, the coaches were the ones busy wowing crowds with their off-stage bickering and banter on TODAY.
"I'm competitive -- with myself," panelist Adam Levine said, dismissing talk of any true rivalry between him and the other panelists. "These guys (Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton) are my homies. I love you guys."
Green returned the sentiment, but co-coach Shelton couldn't let a feel-good comment like that pass by unchallenged.
"What do you mean you're competitive with yourself?!" the indignant country crooner asked. "When you say that -- that's the most generic, piece of crap answer."
"You're right. It was a terrible answer," Levine deadpanned. "It was totally dishonest. The truth is -- [expletive] these guys -- I want to beat the crap out of them in every possible way. If you're saying that this is a competition, absolutely, and they're both going down."
As for also-competitive coach Christine Aguilera, she wasn't able to join the gang for the pre-finale talk, but one of her other rivals was on-hand to talk about her. Aforementioned contestant Lucca discussed his take on his often tense talks with Aguilera, who once worked alongside him on "The Mickey Mouse Club."
"You know, I was anticipating a little more pleasant exchange between the two of us over the course of the season," he said. "I'm more confused by it than anything really."
Of course, there's one more personality from "The Voice" panel that couldn't make the interview, and frankly, wouldn't have had much to say anyway. Even Green's feline friend Purrfect -- the famed rent-a-cat that's never far from the singer's side while the cameras roll -- as it turns out, is a source of coach-related controversy, too.
"Blake does not love that cat," Green revealed.
Not one to argue (anymore), Blake joked that he was no fan of the "nasty, mangy animal."
The final round of competition on "The Voice" airs Monday night at 8 p.m. ET, and the champ-crowning season finale airs Tuesday at 9 p.m.
